It’s the end of March, our big river is awakening from the cold winter and our carp, still a bit numb, begin to feed more plentiful and to spare energy for the next reproductive period.
The Po Adventure starts!
With Sara we decide to fish in a stretch of the river that we know very well, characterized by a varied backdrop that goes from being sandy, muddy, to the far land that falls perpendicular to the water with different steps and different depths.
Given the still slow metabolism of the carp, the days before the session we feed with small quantities, but steadily, with the BIG Fish Boilies made by Imperial Baits. They are irresistible for the carp from the great river!
IB Carptrack BIG Fish – our favourite for river fishing!
Here comes our fishing day!
In the early afternoon we started to load the boat and moved to the place. The river level has just dropped and left a lot of mud on the bank but it doesn’t scared us, so boots on the feet and ACTION!
My Hookbaits for river fishing
While I’m preparing the rigs and hookbaits, glugged in the Fish Amino Dip from the night before and some PVA bag with The Amino Pellets 4 mm inside, Sara sets up the camp with bivvy, bedchairs and more.
THE RIVER-RIG
My rigs are always simple and light but absolutely strong and safe. I always use the CARP’R’US products: the CENTURION 2000 ATS hooks and the 45 lb SMOOTH BRAID. And since the underwater obstacles are very frequent, it is better not using to light material.
The rods are ready and finally the wait goes on. The afternoon runs smoothly, there are only some small jumps on the surface to giving us some signs of activity. Finally at sunset, the carp begin to look for food, so we got every hour a bite!
We did not sleep that night because of so many runs and at the first morning light everything changed to silent mode.
Picture-Session in the morning
Full of mud but satisfied and happy!
And here comes the BIG ONE!
The fish got his freedom back and we drove home and already talked about the next trip to the fantastic river Po in Italy!
Greetings and tight lines!

DICKE DINGER!
