– un grand monsieur de la pêche a la carpe!
In memory for „Berny“ from Max Nollert
It is a very sad reason why I want to write the following lines. Anyway I hope you follow them and take afterwards a rest at the pictures and the short slideshow and movie.
Memento mori
This is also the name of the new book from Peter Schuh which will be released shortly. However this expression which shall remind us that we are not living forever is today in use of the sad context that Bernard Hesse (Berny) died last week after a longer time living and fighting with cancer. As I had a very close and pleasant contact with Berny for many years I want to thank him herewith for being as he was – un grand monsieur de la pêche a la carpe, toujours plaisir a rire in his unforgettable warm style! If one would know about all he had to carry on his shoulders years long before he got ill, it was even more nice to see how good he dealed with difficult situation and in addition there would be no wonder to see how he treated things sometimes in his way – Berny style which is incomparable with any other way I know to treat things! Left-right-left-forward-backwards – DONE! Berny was always quick and very precise in what he was doing and he never spared himself!
The Poet and the Pendulum
When I found out the possibility how he could get a licence to fish in that 90 ha lake in Germany he did not hesitate long time and started to fish that lake immediately. There are almost no carp inside but one big one and Jake Langely Hobbs proofed well how “easy” it is to get one of them out. Berny fished his fifth week-end and got the Big One out – with 31,2 kg!
I was so happy for him that I took some time and wanted to give something back to him in putting together the pics I made and add fitting music – it was an honor for me to give light to his biggest carp he ever caught! So it was born the title “Berny and the Big One” or “The Poet and the Pendulum”.

Later on we even had a very nice video cut from that special photo and video session in the DVD Carp Total. If you look that 8 minutes Video up to the end you will take note well what I mean with the expression “Berny Style”.

Berny shared his knowledge with us
This update today shall also be a summary of the recent articles Berny was writing for magazines in Europe as well. His special and very successful style of fishing for big carp seems to be magic for many fishermen sitting next to him. In deed Berny has had the hand you need and all his doings have been well reduced to fish for big carp. The article “XXL Boillies” is one of his parts, some others are also well documented in the press and for a few it is only Berny who did know about. “Do not tell all your secrets but know well about those you tell to others”, seems to be one of the ways Berny was acting very well – a good way indeed!

NRGI-BAITS
All in all 3 years ago Berny was ready to make his own business with his company NRGI-Baits. His attitude to produce baits for customers was the same as he would produce them for his own – just excellent. Unfortunately his power to do what he wanted to do in that 100% Berny-power-way was treated by cancer since about Spring of 2013.
We wish his family all the best and as much force as needed to keep up head knowing that Berny will be with us in his way anyway and everywhere.
